Growth Mindset is the Key to Learning Math with Mrs. Williams
Hello! Welcome to the exciting new chapter in your life as a Jaguar at Horizon Middle School! We have a team of supportive teachers and staff to help you navigate the challenges you'll likely face with developing relationships, gaining more independence, and exploring interests on your journey to self-discovery.
I'm proud to say that I've been teaching math to sixth graders at Horizon Middle School since 2008! I received my Bachelor of Arts in Elementary and Middle School Education from the University of Nebraska at Kearney in 2004. After student-teaching and work as a math interventionist in Houston, TX, I officially began my teaching career in 2005 as a 7th grade math teacher at Westridge Middle School in Grand Island, Ne, the town where I was born and raised. I completed my Masters in Curriculum and Instruction at UNK in 2009. Following the completion of my degrees, I've continued take classes, webinars and workshops that fuel my passion for teaching and engaging students.
I firmly believe we are all mathematicians! It is imperative that students come to class with a growth mindset. Positive thinking and consistent effort have helped students make huge strides in their mathematical abilities! Please review my math class expectation file linked on the right. Flexibility will play a key role with these new uncertain times.
I also believe that communication is vital for student success! I care deeply about the students and families I serve each year! Please reach out to me with questions, concerns, and/or struggles ( or share some good news and celebrations) via:
