The following is an alphabetical list of activities sponsored by the Buffalo Hills PTO. We hope these brief descriptions will give you some ideas about how you can become involved. Some areas will have chairpersons and committees while others will require only chairpersons or volunteers.

To express interest in participating in any of these PTO events or to just learn more, please attend a PTO meeting or contact Mrs. Feusner or any PTO Executive Member.

Book Fairs
The PTO will host a fall and spring book fair as a fundraiser through Scholastic Books. Help your teacher build your child's classroom library while supporting your love of reading and books!

Box Tops
Buffalo Hills participates in the Box Tops for Education Program. The Box Tops can be collected at any time and sent with your child to school at your convenience. Have friends, family members, neighbors or anyone you know to save Box Tops to help earn money for our school!

Breakfast With A Buddy
Invite your most favorite buddy, whether it is your mom, dad, aunt, uncle, cousin, grandparent, or neighbor for a PTO sponsored hot and yummy "Breakfast with a Buddy" in December.

Children's Museum Night
In January, the PTO will reserve the back room at the Children's Museum for a free evening of fun, friends, make believe, and memories. Grab dinner, bring it up and enjoy each other's company.

Family Fresh Market Labels and Receipts
During the school year, save barcodes from the "Our Family" products and turn into the school periodically. Buffalo Hills will earn $25.00 in cash for each bundle of 500 UPC barcodes that are turned in. Also, save your cash register receipt tapes from the grocery store, liquor store, and gas station pumps. Once Buffalo Hills has collected $150,000 in receipt tapes the Nash Finch Company will issue, in the name of the school, a check totaling $1,000 that may be used to purchase text books, teaching aids, athletic equipment, etc.

Family Movie Night
Family Movie Night is offered once or twice a school year. A selection of movies will be available to watch on the big screen. Fresh popcorn will also be served by the PTO. A completed Box Top worksheet will be the entry ticket.

Hy-Vee Receipts
Save your Hy-Vee receipts and send them to school. Buffalo Hills receives a percentage of the total receipts submitted.

The PTO provides the funding for this online math and language based program.

Labels: Campbell Soup
The PTO collects and submits Campbell's labels for reimbursement. Collections are made throughout the year with reimbursement in the spring.

Spring Magic, Music or Science and More; Silent Auction Fundraiser
"Fun" and "fundraising" are two words that best describe this event. We have had a Nebraska group, "The String Beans" perform, as well as a magician in the past. This is an evening for parents and students to socialize as well as have the opportunity to purchase themed baskets with items donated by each classroom. A committee will be forming in the early spring for this event.

The PTO continues to support the playground projects. They have installed basketball hoops, soccer goals and tetherballs. They have also purchased a recess cart and did a major addition in 2013.

Polar Express
The PTO reserves select times one night of the Polar Express KPS event. Tickets may be purchased through the school office. Tickets are first come, first serve and they go fast!

Restaurant Out to Eat Nights
Throughout the year, there will be a few different opportunities to join your family and other Buffalo Hills families to support our great school by eating at a local restaurant that has deemed a percentage of a specific night's sales to go directly to Buffalo Hills.

School Apparel/Car Decals
Buffalo Hills shirts, hoodies, and car decals are for anyone interested in showing their school spirit by supporting Buffalo Hills Elementary! Orders are taken at the Back to School Night as well as during the first few weeks of school.

School Directory
A student directory is available for purchase by all Buffalo Hills families shortly after school starts in the fall. PTO volunteers compile, print, and distribute the directory.

Soup and Grandparent Night
Join the PTO and your favorite grandparent or special older person for an evening meal of homemade soup and books at the Scholastic Book Fair.

Staff Appreciation Meals
The members of the PTO provide dinners for teachers during Parent Teacher Conferences in the fall and spring, as well as breakfasts during Teacher Appreciation week in May for the staff to show our appreciation for their great work.

Teacher Appreciation Week
We show our appreciation for the teachers throughout the week with special notes and goodies.

Used Book Sale
The Buffalo Hills PTO will hold its an annual Used Book Sale in May. Gently used, children's books can be donated at any time throughout the school year to be sold during this week. Simply send your donated books with your child to school or drop them off in the office. Any unsold books will be donated to a local charity.
