Kearney Public Schools is pleased to announce that Mr. Clint Edwards has been selected as the new principal for Horizon Middle School beginning in the 2019-2020 school year.  Mr. Edwards has worked as the Assistant Principal at HMS since 2012.

“Mr. Edwards has proven himself to be a strong leader at multiple levels in the KPS system,” said Dr. Kent Edwards, Superintendent. “His experience at Horizon Middle School will benefit him in knowing the students, teachers, and the KPS system as he implements his strategic objectives.”

Edwards was selected the Region IV Assistant Principal of the Year in 2017.  He is a member of the Nebraska Council of School Administrators, National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association, and the Nebraska Coaches Association.

“I am honored to be chosen as the next principal at Horizon Middle School” stated Clint Edwards. “Over the past seven years, I have had the privilege of working with a wonderful mentor and first-rate staff. We are fortunate to have a great student body as well as excellent parental support.  I am proud to be a part of HMS and I would like to thank Dr. Edwards and Kearney Public Schools for this opportunity. “

Prior to Horizon Middle School, Mr. Edwards worked as assistant principal (2011-2012) and Dean of Students (2008-2011) at Kearney High School.   Prior to coming to Kearney, he worked as Activities Director at McCook High School, and Language Arts teacher and coach at Columbus High School.

Mr. Edwards will replace Kipp Petersen, who is retiring after 27 years with KPS.
