Nate Dennis

 

Officer Nathan Dennis #241

Officer Dennis is a graduate of Kearney High School, class of 1994. He spent four years in the U.S. Navy and moved back to Kearney. Officer Dennis started his career with the Kearney Police Department in 2015 as a patrol officer.  He has additionally served as a field training officer, member of the honor guard, negotiator for the Emergency Services Unit, and began his current role as a school resource officer in 2021. Officer Dennis is also active as a TeamMates Mentor and serves on the Board of Directors for TeamMates - Kearney chapter.  He is also on the Board of Directors for the Friends Program.  Officer Dennis is married and has one daughter and three grandchildren.

Boyd Weller

Officer Weller started his career with the Kearney Police Department as a community service officer in 2004. He graduated from the UNK with a bachelor’s degree, with a major in criminal justice and a minor in psychology, in 2006.  In 2006 he started his career as a police officer and completed the Nebraska Law Enforcement Training Center in  2007.  In 2014 Officer Weller joined the Criminal Investigations Division as a general investigator.  In 2021 Officer Weller rotated back to the patrol division with the KPD and in 2023 he took on the role of School Resource Officer.  Officer Weller is a Kearney/Buffalo County Fatality Accident Investigation Team member, a Forensic Cell Phone Analyst, and a certified D.A.R.E. Instructor.  Officer Weller is married with three children.

Officer Arevalo

Officer Arevalo is a graduate of Godinez Fundamental High School, Santa Ana, CA, class of 2012. He earned his associate’s degree from Santa Ana College in 2018, and a bachelors of arts degree from the University of California at Los Angeles in 2020. Prior to working with the Kearney Police Department, Officer Arevalo served his community in California by working at the Social Services Agency in Orange County as an Eligibility Technician for California’s Assistance Programs. Officer Arevalo has served as an Officer in the Kearney Police Department since August of 2021 and in this time has taken multiple trainings focusing on mental health and assisting those living with mental/physical disabilities. Officer Arevalo is fond of the arts programs within academia. He is married and has three children.

Sergeant Logan Miller

Sergeant Miller graduated from Broken Bow High School in 2011 and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Nebraska at Kearney in 2015. He began his law enforcement career with the York Police Department (Nebraska), serving as a patrol officer from 2016 to 2018, and later worked as a deputy sheriff with the Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office from 2018 to 2020. In 2020, Sergeant Miller joined the Kearney Police Department as a police officer and was promoted to Sergeant in 2023. He is a member of the department’s Drone Team and serves as an Emergency Vehicle Operation Course (EVOC) instructor. He currently supervises the Special Services Unit, which includes the School Resource Officer Unit, Police Service Dog Team, and Community Service Officers. Sergeant Miller is married and has three children, all of whom attend Kearney Public Schools.
