All About Mrs. Artman

I decided to become a teacher when I was in the third grade. I earned an undergaduate degree in elementary education from the University of Dubuque. During my senior year I relocated from Iowa to Houston, TX to complete my student teaching. I began my teaching career in 2007 as a third grade teacher. In 2011 I earned a Master's Degree in Differentiated Instruction from Graceland University.

In 2011 I married my husband, Bryan, and in 2012 I enrolled at Sam Houston State University to earn a degree in Library Science. I started my role as a librarian in August of 2012. During my seven years in the library I worked at two different school in two different districts. I worked with a diverse population ranging from early childhood, special education, through fifth grade. My husband and I also welcomed our first two children. Our oldest was born in 2013 and our second child was born in 2016.

In June of 2019 we welcomed our third child and relocated from Texas to Kearney. We have loved the transition and are so thankful for the amazing schools in KPS. For the 2019-2020 school year I was a stay at home mom. In the fall of 2020 I was hired in KPS as a full-time sub and shortly after I became one of the remote learning teachers, teaching kindergarten and third grade. In 2021 I returned to in person teaching as a third grade teacher at Buffalo Hills. It was an amazing experience and reminded me of why I became a teacher.

Starting in August 2022 I became the librarian at Buffalo Hills and Windy Hills. I am excited to be part of two great KPS schools hope to share a love of reading with all my students!
