Welcome to Choir
The Kearney High School Choir Department consists of six choral ensembles. The KHS Chorale and Varsity Girls Glee are select choral ensembles, which perform a wide variety of styles and genres of quality choral literature. The choirs are comprised of auditioned, dedicated, and talented musicians who collaborate and use critical thinking skills, while engaging in the creative musical process. The Concert Choir is a non-auditioned freshman level choir while the Mixed Chorus is the non-auditioned choir for singers in grades 10-12. Over the past several years the choir has traveled to Italy, Belgium, France, Spain, Ireland, Costa Rica, and England. The choirs have routinely earned superior awards at the NSAA District Music Contest. The choir has had the honor of singing under the direction of world-renowned choral conductors/composers Z. Randall Stroope, David N. Childs, Jon Washburn, René Clausen, Ron-Dirk Entleutner, Mack Wilberg and Eric Barnum.
