KHS Summer PE
Having trouble fitting PE into your class schedule? Don't feel like running the mile between classes? DON'T SWEAT IT.... Get your physical education credits this summer!
PE Credit - NEW NEW NEW NEW
KHS requires 10 PE/Health credits and an additional 5 PE credits to graduate. You can take five or all ten credits in one summer. To get 5 credits only, you will need to take the first session.
There are NO absences allowed in Summer PE due to the compacted coursework. Health related absences must be excused by a doctor’s note (No exceptions) and will be subject to loss of credit and will require additional make-up time if available. Weddings, family vacations, school sponsored trips, etc… are NOT excused absences.
PE Class Location
PE will take place at WINDY HILLS ELEMENTARY & Other locations. Transportation to and from PE at all locations is the responsibility of the student. We do not bus to alternate sites.
Registrations are accepted on a space available basis and will be taken at the Main Office Only. Class size is limited; so prompt registration is important. A minimum of 14 students is required for a class. Homework will be assigned. Call 308-698-8028 with registration questions.
Payment must be made in full at the time of registration. Make checks payable to "Kearney Public Schools". Waivers are not applicable for summer classes. Extra fees will be assessed during class for field trip expenses. Financial aid available through United Way. In addition to the registration, students will be responsible for fees related to class activities.
HSPE 100 Introduction to Health & Physical Education (Boys/Girls)
May 30 – July 7 8:00-12:00
KHS Students: $300 (extra fees may be required for activities)
Non KHS Resident: $400 (extra fees may be required for activities)
No class July 3 or 4
Course Description: Introduction to Health and Physical Education will emphasize that personal health and wellness is valuable in life, and that it’s consistent study and practice will enable individuals to make choices that will positively impact their health and well-being. A combination of physical activities, fitness opportunities, and health topics and concerns will be taught and discussed. Transportation is the responsibility of the student. This course meets 10 of the 15 credits required for graduation, and it must be taken prior to enrolling in any other Physical Education courses, with the exception of Strength Enhancement. This course is highly recommended for students in 9th and 10th grade.
PHYSICAL EDUCATION 2 - FIRST SESSION
May 30-June 16 8:00-12:00
KHS Students: $150 (extra fees may be required for activities)
Non KHS Resident: $200 (extra fees may be required for activities)
Course Description: Physical Fitness activities with an emphasis on lifetime healthy activities like golf, bowling, walking, biking and others. Classes will be held at many locations. Transportation is the responsibility of the student.
Enrollment fees are not refundable. We understand there are circumstances beyond your control; however, tuition will not be refunded for a student's lack of attendance, behavioral problems or insufficient grades to obtain class credit. If your class is cancelled due to enrollment a complete refund will be granted. There is a $25 per class cancellation fee.
Location is TBD. Some classes will take place in alternate locations. Transportation to and from these locations is the responsibility of the student. Extra fees may be assessed for field trips. There is no bussing for KHS PE. A class calendar of locations will be provided the first day of class. The students are responsible for getting to and from these locations.
All Kearney Public Schools policies apply. Appropriate behavior is expected or students will be removed from class and parents will be notified. No refunds or credit will be granted.
KHS personnel will not dispense medications, prescription or over-the-counter. Do not send medications with your child to class.
