Mundorf Signs as New Associate Superintendent

Jason Mundorf has been selected the Associate Superintendent of Kearney Public Schools.  Mundorf has been the superintendent at the Anselmo-Merna Public Schools since 2013.

"Kearney Public Schools and the community of Kearney are known throughout Nebraska as an elite school system with a supportive and progressive community,” stated Mundorf.  “Throughout the interview process, I was extremely impressed with what the school system has already accomplished and excited by the potential and interest the administration cadre had for continued growth.  It's quite evident the teachers, students, administration, school board, and community are focused on excellence in all educational pursuits.  I'm thrilled for the opportunity to join this elite school system and look forward to working in tandem with school and cabinet leadership to continue their excellence!"

Jason Mundorf grew up in Elgin, Nebraska and attended college at the University of Nebraska-Kearney earning a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration.  He earned a certification in Business Education through the University of West Georgia, and a Master's and Educational Specialist degrees through Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville, Alabama.  After moving to Nebraska, he completed a second Educational Specialist degree in Educational Administration at UNK in May 2015.

Mundorf worked in professional sales before he entered the education field in 2000.  He was employed by Paulding County High School as a business teacher and Assistant Principal at Moses Middle School in Paulding County.  In 2005 Mundorf served as Associate Principal and Career/Technical Education Director and then the Middle School principal in the Carrollton City Schools before becoming superintendent at Anselmo-Merna in Nebraska.  Mundorf also handled the PK-6 Principal duties his first three years at Anselmo-Merna and was both Superintendent and K-12 Principal during the 2016-17 school year.  Under Mundorf's direction, Anselmo-Merna High School was named one of Nebraska's top high schools, earning recognition from U.S. News and World Report during their "Best of Rankings" in 2014, 2016, and 2017.  Mundorf also helped start the Anselmo-Merna Athletic Booster Club and the Anselmo-Merna Foundation with community support.

According to Dr. Kent Edwards, Superintendent of Kearney Public Schools, Mundorf will be replacing Dr. Carol Renner who has selected the position of KPS Director of Student Services.  “Given Dr. Renner's experience and expertise, replacing her in the role of Associate Superintendent for KPS was an arduous task, “stated Edwards.  “Mr. Mundorf has a wealth of K-12 experience and given my previous opportunity to lead him, I am confident that he will be an asset to our leadership team at Kearney Public Schools. We are excited to have Mr. Mundorf joining us and look forward to the contributions he will make to better serve our students, staff, and programs.”

Mundorf has a wife, Kat, and three kids, Joel (12th grade), Jack (7th grade), and Maggie (4th grade).
